        siddisse (she/they) is a first generation diaspora child born and raised in maryland, currently based in philadelphia.‘siddisse’ means spring flower in afaan oromo, the language of the oromo people in southwestern ethiopia.

    she is a creative researcher, memory worker, and interdisciplinary artist exploring diasporic memory, alternative epistemology, and black + indigenous queer feminisms. their work is focused on creating a vast web of interconnection between and within the stories of black people globally through storytelling, theoretical inquiry, artistic practice, and creative preservation methods.

    siddisse is co-founder of KyKy Archives, an independent accessible digital archive collecting the histories of black lbtq folks. her self-published zine etymology of black lesbian gender is held worldwide, including in the schomburg center for research in black culture, the metropolitan museum of art research library, los angeles contemporary archive, and several university and zine libraries.
